Next construction phase: Closure between Suderwittingen and Ohrdorf
In addition to the closures that have been in place since 1 September on the federal road 244 between Wittingen and Brome, a further construction phase will begin on Monday, 6 October 2025. The section between Suderwittingen and Ohrdorf will also be fully closed. Suderwittingen will therefore be completely cut off from through traffic; only local residents will still be able to reach the village.
The restrictions affect all road users equally - both private transport and local public transport. In order to ensure the mobility of passengers and in particular school transport during the construction phase, Verkehrsbetriebe Bachstein has developed an adapted timetable concept in close cooperation with the Regionalverband Großraum Braunschweig (RGB) and the district of Gifhorn.
Diversion
Lines 151, 153, 163, 165 and the journeys to the VW special shifts have to be diverted over a wide area via Schneflingen, Küstorf, Mahnburg, Hagen and Kakerbeck to and from Wittingen.
Shuttle service between Ohrdorf and Küstorf and for pupils from Suderwittingen
In addition to the existing shuttle service between Zasenbeck and Radenbeck, a shuttle service will be set up on route 163 between „Ohrdorf, Schule“ and „Küstorf, Ort“. This is coordinated with the connecting journeys in the direction of Brome and Wittingen. Detailed information on the shuttle service can be found in the timetables.
Furthermore, the following stops cannot be served:
- „Wittingen, South“
- „Suderwittingen, Place“
- „Suderwittingen, B244“
- „Ohrdorf, town centre“
Alternatively, the stops „Wittingen, Kakerbecker Straße“ and „Küstorf, Ort“ are available.
An additional shuttle service will be organised for the transport of pupils from Suderwittingen. Detailed information will be sent directly to the schools / families by the district of Gifhorn.
The restrictions on routes 160 and 162, which have been in place since 1 September, remain in place.

Diversion via Schneflingen, Küstorf, Ohrdorf and Suderwittingen and on via Kakerbeck to Wittingen.

Establishment of a Shuttles for school transport with change in Radenbeck.
Outside school hours: AnrufLinienTaxi (ALT) on weekends and public holidays with connection to line 163. -
Wittingen, South
This stop will be cancelled during the construction phase. Replacement: Wittingen, Kakerbecker Straße. -
Line 162
Evening trips on school days and all-day trips on holidays and Saturdays are organised by ALT replaced. Some new times for connections to line 160. -
RegioBus line 160
Some evening and Saturday trips will be cancelled.
Adjustment of departure times → standardised 2-hour cycle in Wolfsburg and Brome, slightly noticeable throughout the day.
