NEW PATHS - NEW GOALS

Reorganisation of bus services between Wittingen, Brome and Wolfsburg - for better connections and clear timetables.

The implementation of the restructuring of bus transport in the Wittingen - Brome - Wolfsburg region is scheduled for the 1 June 2026 planned.

The basic concept of the new planning presented in 2025 is being retained. However, individual routes, frequencies and time slots have been reviewed and further developed on the basis of current data and available information - particularly regarding school transport.

All planned adjustments are made in close consultation with the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association and take into account the data basis and the financing of the district of Gifhorn.

The aim is to create an attractive, reliable and well-coordinated service for the entire area that best meets the needs of the people in the region.

The objectives of the grid changeover at a glance

Optimisation of school transport

The following adjustments will be made to school transport on the basis of new pupil lists and relevant lesson times:

  • As a rule, the district of Gifhorn, in consultation with the schools, will in future two outward journeys and three return journeys per school offered.
  • For many locations, this involves Direct connections. Among other things IGS Sassenburg (at the 1st and 2nd hour and after the 6th and 9th hour) and at the Hankensbüttel Grammar School (at the 1st hour).
  • For the start of lessons for 2nd lesson at Hankensbüttel grammar school the existing transfer connection has been improved, but it remains a transfer connection.

The School timetables are clearly structured and published transparently

Our goal: Reliable and plannable routes to school with clear routes and timetables that are coordinated with school hours.
Your advantage: Good overview and better planning for you and your family.

The news about your line in detail

  • Adjustment of journey times to better complement the National bus route 300 and thus the cancellation of parallel journeys. Together with the state bus route 300, this will create Parsau, Rühen and Wolfsburg a coordinated interval service:
    • Monday to Friday during the day up to Two journeys per hour and direction
    • Reliable connections in the evenings and at weekends thanks to the combination of both lines (per line in the 2-hour cycle)
  • Direct connections from Wittingen via Brome to Wolfsburg due to the through-connection of journeys of the Lines 160 and 163, with train connections in Wittingen and Wolfsburg
  • Changing route via Croya/Ahnebeck and Bergfeld, whereby Bergfeld new to the RegioBus line 160 is connected
  • In the late evening hours and at weekends, the route runs exclusively via Bergfeld. Croya/Ahnebeck is served by the state bus route 300
  • Alignment of journey times with the arrival and departure times of regional trains RE30 (Hanover) and RE50 (Braunschweig) in Wolfsburg

Our goal: Better connections, clearer structures and a range of services that complement each other rather than running parallel.
Your advantage: Better planning and better connections to bus and rail transport in Wolfsburg. Direct connections between Wittingen and Wolfsburg, mostly without changing buses, and connection from Bergfeld to the RegioBus line 160.
